Founder and CEO Tim Lawson graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and performed in such productions as
How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Me and My Girl, Grease and Phantom of the Opera.
As Executive Producer for Majestic Theatre Company, Tim was responsible staging Sweet Charity starring Kelley Abbey and the London Productions of Buddy – The Musical, Jolson starring Rob Guest, Spirit of the Dance and Oh! What A Night starring Kathy Sledge.
In 1998 Tim founded TML to produce the Melbourne season of Fiddler on the Roof starring Topol, then develop and tour the parental comedy It’s A Dad Thing! through Australia and South Africa, the world premiere of Weary – The Life of Sir Edward Dunlop, Shout! The Musical starring Tim Campbell and
Brave Men Run In Our Family starring Kerry Armstrong.
Tim then toured the late great Topol in Fiddler on Roof through Australia and New Zealand for 2 years and expanded into Asia to present a new production of Jekyll and Hyde starring Brad Little through 12 cities in Korea and Taiwan, the most extensive tour of an English speaking musical in the region at the time.
This was followed by The Rocky Horror Show through Korea, Singapore and New Zealand starring Richard O'Brien and his
Helpmann Award winning production of A Chorus Line through Australasia and the London Palladium
During this time, Tim established his partnership with Simon Painter with a summer season of Le Grand Cirque at the Sydney Opera House which broke box office records in the history of the iconic venue. This was followed by Ariel Dreams and Adrenaline which would then tour through Australasia and beyond.
Their productions of The Illusionists – Witness The Impossible, The Illusionists 2.0 and The Illusionists Turn of the Century and The Illusionists – Direct From Broadway have made the franchise the world’s biggest selling magic show playing hundreds of cities simultaneously each year, breaking box office records in such iconic venues as The Marquis, St James and Palace Theatres on Broadway and The Shaftesbury Theatre and South Bank Centre in London.
Tim and Simon's other current touring productions include Le Noir - the Dark Side of Cirque, Cirque Adrenaline, Cirque Paris, The Unbelievables, A Magical Cirque Christmas, Circus 1903 – The Golden Age of Circus (playing London’s Festival Hall this Christmas following seasons in Sydney, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York) and Now Your See Me Live.In 2019 these titles were sold to Cirque du Soleil, whilst both companies remain in cooperation.
Further theatrical theatre credits include Ian Fleming’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Fiddler on the Roof starring Anthony Warlow, the international tour of The Wedding Singer, Alice in Wonderland, The Lyin’Queen and the Australian tour of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, the world premiere of The Iron Throne a prequel to Game of Thrones with George RR Martin serving as Executive Producer.
The first event in TML’s new immersive division is the world premiere of Disney: The Castle where guests step into the musical magic of Disney's most beloved animated movies. At this one-of-a kind family festival, fans will explore immersive musical worlds, witness spectacular live concert performances, and discover pop-up installations set around the towering Disney Castle.
